If you don’t have an idea, it doesn’t matter what media you use.
May 21, 2012
We saw this graphic today about the complex world of social media. The confusion of the media landscape has been talked about ad nauseam lately. And it’s all true, yes, it’s confusing out there. Things were easier when it was ABC, NBC, CBS and all you had to figure out was gin or vodka in the martini?
But what isn’t talked about in all this discussion of confusing media is something really simple: if you don’t have a good idea, it doesn’t matter where you put it.
If you successfully integrate a boring idea, no one will remember it across your integrated media landscape.
If you very efficiently spend money on a boring idea, your efficient media dollars will be wasted.
And if you’re on every social network posting boring crap no one wants to look at, no one will remember you there either.
Just something to keep in mind as you try to make sense of the media landscape; Don’t forget to say something compelling wherever you decide to say it.
