New Rules Of Work
A collaboration between Division of Labor and Tribune Showprints
We did this series of limited edition posters as a commentary on the modern workplace. Except, we did them old-school and letterpressed them on card stock with the help of our friends at Tribune Showprint. It seems the thoughts are pretty universal as we’ve now done three additional press runs and sold over 10,000 posters around the world with the help of Fab.com So we wrote and designed a bunch more and turned the series into a book being published by Chronicle Books and out September of 2013. The posters are still for sale on Fab.com and the book will be available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Chronicle Books.
Truth in Advertising
A collaboration between Division of Labor and Southwest Signs
Our first project was to turn our studio into a grocery store – or so the neighbors thought. Adorning the walls and windows with hand-painted, grocery store signs selling “Genetically Engineered Corn”, “Overpriced Organic Bananas” and “Mercury Tainted Salmon Steaks”. In addition to a bunch of press and a steady stream of people wandering in asking, “Do you really sell Murcury Tainted Salmon?” the signs have been used by locals in their fight against GMOs. Of course, we’re very happy with both these results. We always remind our clients to be provocative and get people talking. So it’s nice to see it work. Many thanks to Southwest Signs for making this project come to life.

Everyday, a busy stream of people walk by our storefront. Tourists, businessmen, soccer moms, hippies, retired hippies. This flow of daily traffic is perfectly framed by our front window and we thought would make a great still life. So, for two weeks in March we documented what happened. Many thanks to Wendy MacNaughton who helped conceive the idea and Mark Likosky who patiently sat atop a stool and inconspicuously snapped much of the action.
