THE PHANTOM RETURNS
Michael Myers seems to come back every Halloween. So does The Phantom.
Phantom Wines started long after the unexplained incidents began at the vineyard in Clarksburg. The Bogle Familiy and Bogle Vineyards have been making exceptional wines for three generations on the properties. And the stories have been told for three generations, as well. Unexplained noises in the barrel rooms, shadows, footsteps when no one was there. When Division of Labor, the advertising agency in San Francisco, first came up to Clarksburg to meet the team they’d be working with, these are some of the stories they were told.
Of course, the first Phantom red blend wasn’t released until 1999, long after the stories became lore. And the family wanted to pay homage to the legend of the vineyard phantom while they created a rich, luscious reserve wine. Phantom Wines have been highly rated and enjoy rave reviews while at the same time, Phantom was featured in Forbes Most Haunted Places in America.
When Division of Labor, the advertising agency in San Francisco, was asked to create a campaign for the Phantom to run before Halloween, the agency leaned into the heritage of the brand and the stories they had heard. A horror film poster campaign was born on the heals of a short film contest the winery commisioned because, who doesn’t like a good horror film with their wine? The result of the campaign was a series of posters, spanning the styles but staying true to the brand.
