ELBY ELECTRIC
The Elby Electric bike design is unique from other e-bikes. The battery isat the crankshaft allowing the battery to be larger for more distance per charge. And at the same time, the center of gravity is lower, helping it handle better and ride easier. The problem is, no one cares. We needed to design the brand and give it a personality, so people would care.
We designed the logo and how it would integrate with the final bike color waves. Creating an iconic e was paramount for an e-bike design and a brand called Elby.
Division of Labor helped with product photography, brand design, corporate identity and everything needed for the initial launch at Interbike.
Division of Labor developed a tag line and initial launch campaign, then rented a Van de graaff generator and played with static electricity for the shoot.
The agency built a quick website, got some nice press in Outside Magazine and Elby was launched.

Electric vehicles are becoming mainstream in California. And Division of Labor has carved out a bit of niche with EVs. The agency worked with the California Electric Vehicles Commision promoting EV use in the state. And then did the same thing in Marin County. Launch an e-bike with Elby is a different consumer market but a similar stratgeic problem. Division of Labor is one of the top ad agencies in San Francisco. And starting with the strategic problem is what we do.

We used a Van de graaff generator which creates static electricity when someone touches it. Then we retouched the bikes in to give everyone their hairstyles!
